I used to get this alot from spending lots of time in the water swimming, surfing, sailing, diving etc.

SwimEar is good for on-going maintenance whilst on holiday for instance. This as well as always washing out your ears in the shower when you've been in the water and making sure they dry-out clean.

I've had my ears syringed before. This may or may not be needed. I'd go and see your doc first for him to have a look and recommend it if necessary.

Whatever you do don't let it get too bad as it's really painful and distracting if it all swells up and you get a mid-ear infection. Then you'll need antibiotics as someone else mentioned earlier.

Whatever you do ignore any suggestions involving sharp implements, white-spirits, small fires or explosive devices etc. though I'm sure we all realise that these are tongue in cheek suggestions (at least I hope so!).

I used to get bad earwax build up....nothing to do with playing in loud heavy metal band you understand..it was purely swimming related...anyway...it got bad and repetitive so i was referred to a ENT specialist with a huge Mercedes and a private parking space at his own hospital...anyway...I had to have a septoptimy (sp?) op which was THE most horrendous experience of my life. I had my sinus re shaped and my nose bone messed with and some ear gromets fitted. I woke up from the op with two huge tampons stuck up inside my head and an almost total inability to breathe, or swallow..it was horrid. I remember when the nurse came in to remove the tampons...I got the fat ugly nurse on the night shift not the fit blonde one who apparently only worked days..oh well moving on.... she pulled these things out and it was like my brain was being sucked out of my nostrels...the pain...the blood...the screams for more morphine....

...cured the ear wax issue though:biggrin:.
