It appears that alerts will only populate with threads that are both following and have visited recently. The timespan of the recent visit seems a bit short, is there any way in user press to increase this time?

I find I miss a lot of threads because it's been too long since I visited them.

I don't think it's the timespan - I think it's just that if you miss or ignore one alert, you will not get any further alerts about that thread. I lose track of a lot of threads that way. For example an alert pops up to say "dullgeezer has replied to thread X" and if you don't visit the thread then you won't get an alert when interestinggeezer replies ten minutes later.

I got an alert about this thread but I'm not going to speculate whether I'm dullgeezer or interestinggeezer. However, TC is correct that you only get one alert until you revisit the thread.

I couldn't say! I got the alert because Matt replied, so if I hadn't checked it then I'd never even know that you posted!

Matt and I replied within seconds, you'd only get the one alert. If anyone quotes or likes your post, that always generates an alert but the thread alerts only strike once.

As previously mentioned alerts are sent once and then not sent again until you've read the thread up to date.

You can re-read the last 7 days alerts and any unviewed alerts by howering over the alerts link and selecting Show all ... from the bottom left of the drop-down box, or hovering over your username and selecting Your Alerts or going here: http://www.cyclechat.net/account/alerts

You can also watch all threads you post into and review the list of threads you're watching that have new replies. Go to your account preferences (hover over your username and select preferences or visit here: http://www.cyclechat.net/account/preferences) tick the option for Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply... and then scroll down and click save.

You can then go directly to the threads you've posted in or are watching that have new posts by hovering over your username and selecting Watched Threads or going here: http://www.cyclechat.net/watched/threads

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Shaun
