The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Needless to say I am alarmed.
OMG:excl: Now I am alarmed too:blush: . My bikes are now out of bounds, awaiting washers. There's no knowing what might have happened a few weeks ago if a fellow rider hadn't pointed out my loose bottle cage issue whilst on a ride. Caught just in time! I suppose I will just have to live with the additional weight, and apply rule 5.

you can buy aluminium alloy washers - i made my own carboin fibre washers from CF sheet.

CF washers? How elite is that!! Maybe I should get my next frame with cages molded into the frame. No bolt's so no washer worries..

My Focus road bike came with black plastic washers under the cage bolts - however, when I fitted the cages they all snapped!!!

Why have titanium fastners in a non critical area? Just adding unnecessary weight! You can get drilled washers for the ultimate weight saving!

Not having the correct washers should be a crime, but not as big a one as calling screws bolts:ohmy:
I have washers between the cages and the frame, TBH I have no idea why.
The weight conscious could always try nylon washers, you could probably also use nylon screws.
