I don't see the need for a tumble dryer, but if you really must, AEG & John Lewis both supply a model that is A-rated, and uses about half the electricity of a conventional machine.
Isn't the problem that the drums in each machine do different things so a combi machine will always be a huge compromise?
The washer drum needs to be built like a brick outhouse to withstand the centripetal forces when spinning the load. For drying, you want a thin light drum, so there isn't a large thermal mass to heat up when drying the clothes.
