Was I in the wrong, or the cyclist?

I bet he wasn't wearing hi-viz, a helmet or had any lights too.... arse.

Cyclists don't kill or injure anywhere near the numbers compared to cars. Therefor I don't give a fudge what harmless cyclists do but do care what drivers do.

I don't break the law when cycling. However I only care about law breaking motor vehicles as they're the ones likely to kill or injure the people I care about

It's a bit like how I care police come down harder on rapists and murderers than illegal music downloaders despite them both breaking the law.

Simples.

He couldn't possibly be in the wrong as he was on a bike. As you were in a car you should presume to be liable for his actions too

It's a no win situation for you unfortunately..... go directly to jail, do not pass Go, do not collect £200

Well that makes it ok then.
As for the OP - but whatever happened you would be in the wrong just accept it. Now you begin to understand why so many people hate cyclists.

No, not OK. Just means I don't care about it. I don't care if you download a film. I don't care if you jump a light on a bike. I do care if you do so in a car as the latter is more likely to kill or injure

Cyclist was clearly on one of his favourite strava segments and everyone else was in the way. You should not have been on his private racetrack - all your fault.

I don't think there's any problem with them. It's home taping that's killing music apparently. I'm not sure what that is, but I read it somewhere so it must be true.

There is still enough of a chance that the cyclist will cause an accident by jumping red lights for it to be worth caring about.

Saw an advert in the cinema which said people pirating music and films use the profits to subsidise drug dealing. It seems drug dealing actually loses money so without music piracy drug dealers would go out of business. I think we were supposed to pirate more films in order to help "fair trade" cocaine farmers. I think I've got that right.

Sounds like you were in the wrong mate. Some cyclists (read bellends), ride on a mystic cloud of their own self worth. Totally impenetrable from any form of criticism, quickly batted away with wafts of bullshit spouted from their polished rear ends, whereby they communicate with like minded two wheeled tossers.
