one claiming the other leaked private information about her,
did she actually claim that though? he original tweet only ever said "....Rebekah Vardy's account" which we know to be true, as ms Watt has as good as admitted by lobbing her phone into the sea.

I don't know if she later claimed it was RV herself involved, as I'm pretty sure a fact isn't libel.

However some comments are saying CR has to prove RV was aware of the leaks going on, which suggests at some point CR suggested she did or suggested she was involved in the press leaks..

I'd love to be a lawyer involved £££££££££££££

No, it is about two women who are famous mostly for being footballers wives, one claiming the other leaked private information about her, and the other suing for libel, saying she didn't.

Nothing to do with football in itself.

Wow! That's what the thread is about. It's on the news as well! I'm so glad I don't see or hear the news these days as there must be lots of actual important things hoping on. Two wealthy pointless wastes of space having a tiff and it being news is a sad indication of how shallow modern life has become.

I really feel sorry for anybody who has any interest in this & that fact it is being reported on the BBC says a lot about why the license fee should now be abolished wasting money on crap like this.

I agree with this.

I don't accept at all that it means that though.

The fact most of us don't think there should be any interest in it doesn't mean there actually isn't any, and whether we like it or not, it *is* newsworthy when well known (for whatever reason) people start suing each other.

Two people both feel aggrieved that there are reputation destroying lies in main stream and social media and read by millions. I can see exactly why it’s gone this far. It is irrelevant that they are rich or married to footballers to the injustice they feel. The difference is that they both have the resources to do something about it.

It's not a new thing. For example there were plenty of trivial causes célèbres in Victorian times, the golden age of Hollywood was overflowing with trivial scandals, and so on and so on.

I really feel sorry for anybody who has posted on this thread despite no interest in it, & that fact it is being reported on Cyclechat says a lot about why this website should now be abolished, wasting bandwidth on crap like this.

It’s the day after the Queen’s speech, we have crippling rise in the cost of living, an energy crisis, all out war in Eastern Europe and the Daily Mirror’s front page headline is simply “Waggro”.

The whole gist of the case is that one of them spoke privately in a group and it was
leaked across the media for millions to read which I can certainly see is mortifying. By the same token if I was accused of doing something that bad which I knew to be false I’d be mortified and would fight to clear my name. That the Daily mirror is choosing to splatter more of it across their newspaper is up to them and not the 2 concerned. And even more so, the mIrror know what sells papers so that it is leading is about what it knows its readership wants.

Just because they’re rich from their husbands is not an excuse to make them accept damaging lies about them for millions to read.

Of course the Mirror knows what is likely to sell papers. The point I was making was that it is sad that with all the important stuff going on, the public (or at least the DM readership) prefer reading about a spat between two “celebrities”. If I was editor of the DM I would have done exactly the same thing.

I also agree that Rebekah Vardy is entitled to sue if she considers that she has been libelled. Again, that wasn’t the point I was making.

There's lots of choice of news out there. Many consume it form various sources - BBC for this, Sky News for that, DM for the other. Just because the DM leads with it, that doesn't mean those that are reading are have little interest in the other - it may have been the 4th news site they visited that day.
