Sweet, it's like cold turkey when TdF finishes. Got a week off end of August too, excellent.

at last. British fans will be able to appreciate cycling in full and realise there is more to sports than just bloody football, played by overpaid, egolistic and brainless players.
nothing can compare to cycling for sheer stamina and determination ( remember Thomas Voeckler?)
I have waited 40 years to be able to enjoy cycling races on British TV. At last the day has come. Hurrah!!

Barnet,
ITV4 must have realised that showing the grand tours live has been a bit of a crowd puller as far as viewing figures are concerned, and that will pull in advertisers, so a bit of a win win all round.

The Vuelta will hardly be a crowd puller, but more so than re-runs of Minder and The Sweeney which are standard afternoon fare on ITV4.

Thank God for minority digital channels, very few cycling events could muscle their way onto mainstream TV.

yeh, like cricket! Had to laugh yesterday when the newsreader said that one of the England cricket team had to pull out because he was tired!! Ah, ah, ah, best joke heard that day.
Tired playing cricket? they stand around doing f*** all most of the time.

Yes, great news, I found out a few days ago by chance. It's not very well advertised is it? Perhaps it's secret?

Wiggins and his team a preregistered to ride. Will he be over his collar bone by now?

I have just found this thread, what I am wondering is: Where are the advertisers? At least Halford's advertised during the TDF. For this Vuelta? Not a single cycling related ad. Why on earth can this be? Evans, Wiggle, Chain Reaction, or Cannondale, Giant?
I was talking to one of the spotty yoofs at Halford's the other day. Their "Tour de France Special Edition" ONE BRANCH sell 40 of them PER WEEK
Surely this is madness not to be advertising?

... another ad break..
the more I think about this, the more mystified I am. I cannot be the only one, who after watching these titans hurtling across mountainous terrain at 30mph + wants to do the same. We all know that I can't replace or upgrade my spindly 50-year-old legs, or my much abused by tobacco and lord knows what else lungs and heart. BUT I can click my mouse on some new cycling gloves or shoes or bibshorts or a new chain or crankset or chainset or cassette or whole new groupset or wheels oh what the heck, why not £5,000 of carbon fibre drool while I'm here!!!!
Project for self:
Find out contact details for person-in-charge of ITV4, contact her/him and thank for the coverage.
Find contact details for sales directors of:
Wiggle, CRC, Evans, Cannondale, Giant, Cervelo, Shimano, Sram, Campagnolo, SOREEN!! (please add to this list as you see fit) and write to them and ask directly why they are NOT advertising to this captive and captivated market of itchy-wallet wannabe's like me.
