Vittoria Rubino Tyres

I need a new set of tyres and was looking at the Vittoria Rubino Wire Bead clincher tyre. Then I saw the Vittoria Pro Rubino Folding clincher tyre.
Can someone tell what the difference is (apart from price) and whether the latter is worth the extra tenner.

The folding versions fold (believe it or not) and they're a bit lighter. I bought the standard ones and I've had no issues with getting them on or off, not worth the extra money IMO.

That's actually quite a lot of weight difference on the rim.

200g for £20 is I think pretty reasonable if you're interested in that. [caveat-assuming the weight is correct for the tyre size you're after]

Despite the obvious differences of one being a folding tyre and one not.
The wire bead has a 60tpi and the pro has 150tpi.

A higher TPI means that a thiner thread was used to form the basics of the tyre, this makes the tyre lighter and decreases the rolling resistance. However it is more easily damaged by stones etc..

I went from folding Zaffiro Pro tyres to rigid Rubino and I can safely say that I do not feel the slightest bit of different about the 200g of weight saved.

Up a hill?

Difficult to physically tell, but (and this is the key) if you're interested in shaving the odd seconds off here or there it will make a difference. It has to.

I saved 1kg when I got new wheels, that made a difference - did 200g of tyre make a difference? Possibly but I highly doubt it.

I have used both tyres over many thousands of cycling miles.
Both tyres are really excellent imho, good puncture proof, grippy and long lasting.

If you are a weight weenie then get the Pro's, if not then get the normal ones.
