The climb is about 1600m (300m to 1912m) in 22km, so averaging about 7% but it starts off quite gently so it is averaging about 8%-9% for 15km or so.

Sault is at 750m-ish, so not as tough from there.

I rode up the East Chevin from Otley last Sunday when it was probably about 24 degrees. That's 1.6 km at 10% and half the climb was in shade, but every time I came out into the sun I started to cook. The thought of doing the equivalent of about 13 times that back-to-back, much of it with no shade and much higher temperatures - yikes!
