After months of waiting the day is almost here. This Saturday morning i have arranged for 30 of our club members to do a taster session at Lee Valley Velodrome, Everyone is looking forward to to it, Hope all goes to plan, First time i have organized something like this, Looking forward to a beer or two afterwards to here what people think about it, I did it a couple of years ago, was still buzzing 3 or 4 days later, Will be nice to spend a couple of hours in a short sleeved jersey and shorts, Have picked a good Saturday to do it as the weather forecast looks wet.
Here is to having a great morning.^_^

I want to have a go this year, what are the basic requirements...? For example I don't ride clipless so is that something I should practice beforehand?

I am doing that this year too.
I got a track Christmas present type thing. I just have to book a particular day; sometime this year it says on the certificate/voucher thing.
Really looking forward to it too.
Hope you have a good time mate.

Booking at the moment is crazy if you want a weekend slot. Slots open ever month on the 1st at 9am. You should pre-register so you can get through the process quickly. This month on the 1st the website went down. I am doing it in April with a bunch of friends. Looking forward to it.

no you can use straps i think, But clipless is not a problem on the track you clip in at the beginning of the session and clip out an hour later.:okay:

The session I watched last year looked really fun, and now I'm just trying to persuade some mates to join me!

I hope you have a good time!^_^

Newport will be your nearest indoor velodrome. The hire bikes there (Dolan Precursas) have either Look Keos or cages, so there's no need to be conversant with clipless beforehand. You do need to be attached to the pedals in some way though - much safer that way. I have seen people go from complete beginners to riding the blue line there in less than an hour...

Yes I was thinking about going to Newport, just knowing it will be a mental barrier to step out (ride), but I do want to have a go....
