Well, that trip yesterday ended up a right old mess.

The start looks stupid, but is actually OK, it complements an far-future audax. My shifters had run out of charge, so an unexpected trip to Morrisons, didn't realise that I was metres from the next tile across.

Went down Yate's Road to Nowhere while I was in the area.

Yes, this is where the real problems start. Barely above freezing, slush in places. But the biggest issue was the water on the roads and the rain. Getting soaked in these temperatures was...suboptimal.

So my ride was much curtailed, to a bash down the A38 to Almondsbury, getting a bit lost, and then across to Severn Beach.

Did get to see the unfinished M49 junction and had a bit of fun there, though.

Managed a 63 miler today to mop up 8 tiles in my South East corner. Unusually, all went nice and smoothly - no impassable tracks; no private drives; no HS2 Diversions and no punctures

I did a 42 miler on Friday which mopped up a few stragglers and so now my Square has moved from 31 x 31 to 33 x 33.

Not many tiles needed to get to 34, then it gets patchy again.

It would only take a couple of miles for me to go from 26x26 to 29x29, or with a teensy bit of preparatory work in the North around Tisbury, then 30x30 is an easy 20 km with train assistance.

When I do that Western flank I want to tick off whole swathes of cluster, though.

It gets exponential, and there's a hard limit to the NE in the form of Porton Down.

I guess there's always the Kayak...

Another imperial ton ride to gather some squares on my western edge ,which is not quite as far west as @Supersuperleeds but does reach the suburbs of Birmingham ,21 new squares total now 5995 max cluster up by 18 to 3211 but a jump of 1 on my max square getting to a half century of 50* 50 .
Annoyingly I missed a square on my 51 line which only required about a 20 yard up an back ,When it came upon the wahoo I thought I just made an error as I forgot I planned it

Which way did you come into Birmingham from the East? I may one day cycle back from my in-laws near Spalding/Bourne
