My partner got two tickets and points for each on a pair of cameras on the A4 a couple of hundred metres apart (Brentford, under the M4)

That's not always the case. The cameras on all gantries with cameras will only be used when a sub-NSL speed limit is in force (e.g. 50 or 60). When it is NSL then not all the cameras will be switch8ed on. Different ones will be on at different times (so as to stop people from learning which are on and which are off).




If there's no limit shown then it's NSL. If they've flashed then the person is exceeding NSL and it's their own fault anyway.

It's only my opinion, but I live in Bradley Stoke adjacent to this motorway section and the cameras do not ever appear to be turned off by my own observation. I am only trying to advise against second guessing these cameras, and I also agree that when no speed limit is shown that the speeder is exceeding the nsl, but again was just advising of my own observations that the cameras are never shut off, so as to advise members on this forum ti be careful at all times through this section. If people want to ignore my observations, then the penalty points are theirs to collect.
