Hi,
I have had my Trek 7.5 fx since June and it rides well. However I am already thinking about upgrading to a road bike next year. It just feels like the natural progression.
When I first posted on here around 3 years ago I was going to get a tesco/argos bike (until I was advised otherwise) I started with a cheap £100 hybrid instead.
If I was to get a road bike tomorrow it would probably be one in the £800 range. I few I have in mind so far are a
Bianchi via Nirone 7 Xenon Compact 2011, Fuji 1.0 2011, or anything by Cannondale.
I was wondering if there was a used cycle supermarket like ''Car Giant'' (or something more modest in size) that sells a wide range of used but high quality bikes.
The reason I ask is I am apprehensive about how bikes depreciate over time. I don't intend to buy a new bike and sell it 4 months later but you never knoe what situation might come up.
I have bought from auctions twice but you're not guaranteed to see something you like there every time.
I live in London but I would be prepared to travel further afield.
If there isn't a moderate to large cycle market should I just take the plunge and and buy a new one for £800 ? It's not the price that bothers me but the depreciation, and I would be looking to keep a brand new bike for a significant time.
Thanks
