Urban bike parking design

The odd thing is that almost all cyclists thinking of parking a bike in a public place carry a lock almost without thinking about it. That's an awful lot of stuff you're employing to compensate for somebody not doing the obvious.

There is a market for this kind of thing. I know I'm not terribly representative but I'd very much like to be able to ride my posh bikes into town occasionally but am unable to due to security concerns. In fact, I had to furnish myself with a cheap (for me) bike to do just that. If there were secure lockers I could have saved myself a few hundred quid....
