Another beginners question.

I am quite keen on getting a (budget) road bike, but one which offers a more upright riding style rather than a "low down at 'em" type.

Does such a thing exist and can anybody advise please?

Cash is an issue by the way !!!

Thanks

I had a Secteur and then wanted to change to something similar but racier.

I looked at the Synapse and almost bought it but riding it back to back with a CAAD plumped for the CAAD 8. The riding position surprisingly felt slightly more comfortable than the synapse which was meant to be a more relaxed bike.

Try finding a bike you like and that fits you well and road test as many as you can. You may surprise yourself with what you think you like and what you actually do like.

If you get the fit right but still prefer a slightly more relaxed poition you can always flip the existing stem. I do this on the CAAD and I always have the option of flipping it back if I am doing a TT for example (only a two min job)

And of course there are shorter or more relaxed angle stems (as cyberknight states) that will provide you with a bit more upright position.

Do not rule out the down and at em ones I was in Evans buying something or other and watched a Mechanic flipping a stem on an Allez and the difference to the handlebar position looked staggering.

Good luck
