You can do everything to it. Forks, seat post, saddle, brakes, wheels and tyres, drops, crank...... etc etc....

Depends on money and what your after - why not just buy a better bike ?

Always start with tyres then wheels. Anything else is just cosmetic really.*

*Apart from the frame of course!

A lolly-ice stick on the rear fork that rattles against your spokes gives a realistic motor-bike sound. The lasses down the park get well impressed by that one.

First thing I did on my SCR2 was to replace the pedals with my preferred clipeless ones (Shimano M520). That was followed shortly afterwards by new tyres - Schwalbe Stelvios - as the Kendas punctured almost every other day.

Last 'big' thing was a set of Mavic Aksium Race wheels - they made it feel like I was riding a completely different bike.

Everything else is either cosmetic or wear'n'tear replacement. You could change the groupset, I suppose - but you'd probably be better saving for a new bike with a better groupset on it.

i have 700cx 26mm tyres
will it be good to fit finer ones

Take a tip from me, buy either Conti GP4000S's or Michelin Pro Race. It is the biggest bang for your buck you will ever get on your bike.

More seriously, I agree with most of what has been stated. Pedals, tyres then when money is available - buy some better wheels.

When your Sora groupset is starting to show signs of serious wear, you should then think about replacing that. But Sora is perfectly functional and if after 18 month - 2 years, you are still keen on an upgrade, are still riding well, you will probably relegate the Giant to winter bike and buy a nice carbon bike.

Hmm, I also have an SCR and was planning to replace the tyres with some faster ones, but does upgrading the wheelset really make much difference? The bike comes with Alex DA-22. Was thinking about these

or same my money for a bike upgrade in a couple years perhaps

I had Alex DA 16's on my Sirrus and I upgraded them to the Askium's and it certainly made a difference for me. At the same time I also changed the 28mm tires for 25mm. The bike is much lighter and handles better and I like the way it accelerates now.
