I currently ride a 2009 Genesis Core 20, had it 2 years now from new, obviously some parts are becoming warn now, So the question is .... Do i up grade the parts as they need replacing ? Or do i buy a new bike ? the bike i'm looking at is the Orange P7 Pro .... Is it worth the money buying the new bike ? or just up grade as needed on the Genesis ...

Any help/pointers/opinions much apprieciated .....

Thanks in advance ...

All depends what you can afford and how much you like your current bike.

First it depends how much I liked the bikes setup , and next how much the upgrades would cost. Lets say the upgrades are not far off a new bike, would the new bike be as comfortable, or do I stick to my old one as it fits like a glove no matter how much the upgrades?

The P7 Pro looks a great bike and I have no doubt you'd have great fun with it, however for the cost you could carry out some pretty good upgrades around the Genesis, and this fork from CRC is very good value, although it is older stock with the standard QR not the 15mm through axle

Add to this a good set of Hope brakes,

new wheels and new drive train, and perhaps some Easton Monkey Lite Carbon bars and suitable blingish stem, the Genesis would be great for a many more years.

Thanks guys ... you really have helped me make my mind up, i can get a lot of up grades for the price of the Orange, and i really do enjoy riding the Genesis even though it took me a few months to settle on it, so don't really fancy going through it all again ....

Cheers .....

*runs off to spend some money on new bits* ... lol

A complete bike is always cheaper than the cost of buying the components separately so you need to do the sums~: what is the cost of replacing the worn parts, what would it cost replacing worn parts with upgraded parts and what is cost of new bike?

Hi 02GF74 ... i have now decided to keep the Genesis as the parts that needed replacing were a lot cheaper than buying the new bike, even at the discounted price .... also i know i was comfy riding the Genesis

Cheers
