Sure us a good looking frame . Late 70's to early 80's. Frame rot down there can be fatal. 531 was pretty thick there for some reason so might be ok. When 753 came out they removed surplus metal from that area to save weight. When any rot set in it trashed the frame! I'd have it stripped and inspected. I'd think about a new stay as its a nice frame
2 quid well spent lol. £80 odd quid for a seat stay seems a bargain. Biggs has used Lee Cooper I think and was well pleased.
Don't know why but Ellis Briggs rings a bell. Light tourer / Demi-course would be up their street.
I think it's knackered, those holes shouldn't be there.
Thanks for the lead, I know Ellis Briggs too.i may contact them too with the images to see if it turns up anything.
I did see that Biggs has used Lee Cooper so that may also be an option
I'm glad I picked this up as this is a real interesting eye opener
Yeah Lee Cooper would be a good bet fro replacing that stay , trouble is how much other rot is there
That may be revealed once it's stripped I suppose.
It's kept me entertained so far so the 2 quid has been well spent
Keep us updated please
Possibly but I'm not moaning for a tenner and the very quick turnaround, I can get the rest off fairly easilyThey could have made a better job of taking the paint from round the lugs.
