The under BB guides, waisted fork crown, pip behind head tube tend to point to a 80's bike.

Now that one has the forged fork crown I'd expect on a 'High End' Raleigh from the 80s, nice. :becool:
I thought it must be an 87 rather than 77 but couldn't find anything resembling it in the catalogue.
I know one thing, it had fallen on hard times - it's currently sporting steel wheels and handlebars! So would the Athena have been original? I was thinking it would be a later addition.

Steel Wheels, :eek: 27" or 700c. If they're 27" then no way is it 87 unless someone else put em on, even Raleigh had shifted their stock of them by then (now 26 x 1 3/8" wheels were still in steel then)

Could the low frame number be due to a limited production run?

What form do the Reynolds 531 decals actually take. One from 73, seen but the decal differs in style. The one showing on the forks doesn't appear to match that on the seat tube. Period wise.
