a square with all sides the same thickness with a fan in it (well, I'm assuming it's not a radioactivity symbol).
a square with all sides the same thickness with a fan inside a circle in it.
a square with three sides the same but a thicker base with a fan inside a circle in it.

1 = fan oven
2 = fan oven and then some
3 = tumble dryer function
:rolleyes:

:biggrin:

Thank you. I look forward to doing some drying later....

The lamb cutlets were very nice, BTW. Tiny, but flavourful. From Shetland sheep, the very ones I was looking after for a weekend before Christmas. Their last weekend, in fact...

Also discovered my friend has a miraculous knife which cuts sideways - apply pressure downwards, blade held perfectly perpendicular to board, and it kept cutting at 45 degrees - it wasn't the blade twisting, it stayed straight, but sort of skidded across. Never seen one like it! Carrot rounds all turned into ovals....
I used to have one like that, then it broke. The replacement looks similar but cuts vertically. It finally dawned on me that the original knife was flat on one side and serrated on the other, but the new one is serrated equally on both sides. The lack of symmetry is what made the original knife cut sideways (one side of the blade cut more easily than the other).

Oh yes, it is serrated on one side only (well, the other side is ground, but flat not serrated.)

It was so funny though, the knife was straight, but cutting at an angle, no matter what I did. My Mum was talking to my sister on the phone at the time and had to come and see why I was simultaneously swearing and laughing!

I assumed womenfolk were born with the innate sense to understand the workings of cookers...
Except when they have manly electronic timers! :smile:

My mother's gas cooker has an electronic timer facility on it which unfortunately sets itself to an unusable state if the cooker circuitry is reset by a power cut or by someone unplugging the cooker to plug a vacuum cleaner in. This seems to happen fairly frequently. The oven will not light again until two buttons are pressed simultaneously to clear the timer. It doesn't matter how many times I explain it to my mum and my sisters, it still has to be sorted out by me or by one of my brothers-in-law.

Fan bit is optional on some fan ovens so fan bit it that coming on.

The around the edge thick lines are where the heat is from.

You can have the heat elements. Side for some things and/or at the base. You would just use the heat from the base if you were cooking a nice big cake and did not want it to burn.
