What on earth are these levers? I've owned this bike for some time and it was sort of a hire bike before I owned it so it's had a few tumbles (so excuse the mess), but I can't figure out what 'range' this is. I know they're not 6700 because they look different and the Shimano guides and instruction videos don't seem terribly relevant.

I can just about make out 'flight deck' printed on the plastic capping on the rear brake (if I take off the bit of gaffa tape that usually hides it and stops it rattling).

I have a 9 speed cassette on the rear if that's any help.

I need to ID them as something has happened that means I need to change the brake cables, so need to be able to look up guidance.
Hi Andrew,if you have 9 speed cassette and it says flightdeck somewhere it must be the later 6500. A tough old boot and good with plow also:thumbsup:.Have them on my hack and they just keep shifting up and down, up and down^_^

Hah, I love the phrase 'good with plow'.

I'm guessing you're one of a very small number of people who knew what I was on about when mentioning straight-edge. Kudos!

I've looked at the picture you provided and I'd say that what we're looking at is some sort of combined gear and brake lever. Attached to what appears to be a form of self propelled two wheeled transportation machine. I'm not a scientist but if I had to make an educated guess I'd say it was made of some sort of "stuff". I've got a pounding headache starting just behind my left eye so I'm afraid I can'r be much more specific than that at the moment.

Try googling "things made of stuff". It should give you some avenues to pursue...Let me know how it goes. I'm off to take an Ibuprofen.
