I have the diagnostic kit, its very good at diagnosing issues and identiying what component has the issue in the system.
The real question which needs to be asked is, does it offer value for money?
If you ask this question the answer is NO.
The reason I state this is that from my experience it is not common to get hardwear failures without visible damage to standard components. The majority of issues you get are down to poor installation (damaged wires) and poor hacks such as over volting the system with a bad battery mod, such things can usually be addressed without the diagnostic kit.
The biggest advantage of the kit imho is it permits you to reprogram the shifting which is great if you do custom setups or play with Di2, you can do things like swap what lever shifts up or down, you can set the rear derailer up for a casette with more gears.
Imho if you have a standard Di2 setup, it offers very little value what so ever.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it !

Lot of wisdom there... ^_^ shame i will ignore it
Im a massive Di2 fanboy and play with electronic shifting a lot. Im currently playing with a DIY electronic shifting solution which is really interesting.
Although I have a reasonable appreciation of the subject, this learning has not come without cost to my own pocket and I have seen first hand some really poor conversions on peoples bikes, the reality is that until you understand the system to any degree mistakes can be costly.

If your not hacking the system the diagnostics are not great value for money, you should get your LBS to do firmware upgrades, tweaks etc.

Im always happy to talk about it though and try to help where I can.

Cant help myself, total Geek , ordered one from the States, Glory Cycles, £140 delivered, I know, I will have customs and VAT, but still a lot cheaper.

Anyone in the North East with a Di2, needing it FCUK'ed up ? PM me.
