This looks really good. I have never cycled up that way but done loads of camping trips around there.

It is one of my fav places in the world Stunning ... most folk only make it to loch ness but I always tell people to go further north ... the beaches are white & sandy with crystal clear water.

I think this might be tough cycle ... but I am only a newby cyclist.

I've been considering this one but reckon the short (65m) route might be better. 130m is a tad too far for me although it doesn't look to be that hilly. The short route is much hillier by comparison.

I haven't done anything about it yet. After my last experience in Hawick, i'll leave it until nearer the time. It's a long way to travel plus B&B costs for potentially a ride in the rain. Once you've paid your money you feel duty bound to do it regardless of the weather.

I would go but I'm off on holiday on that day. I think the 26th was also mooted as the social ride for Central Scotland too...?

Good luck to those that do, I'll be thinking about you whilst sipping my pina colada and getting a tan

Checklist for attendees (seamab):

1. Ensure B&B is not also a bar that plays music till 1am the night before you ride
2. Ensure B&B will feed you more than coco pops in the morning
3. Ensure rear mudgaurd that is fitted keeps your arse dry whilst maintaiing a steady stream of brown water into the face of your fellow riders

http://www.theceilidhplace.com/ good place to stay. Plenty of music and many a tale to hear. Probably not too good if you have an aversion to late bedding with a belly full of booze though. I highly recommend a night here.

Somewhere more subdued that does porridge early on a Sat morning would be the thing

I managed some honey coated cornflakes - ghastly!
Check on the mudguard though - my arse was the only dry bit of my body! I've got a set of the new crud roadguards - this might be a chance to try them out...Funny that since i got them we've not had a drop of rain:ohmy:

I'm sure this will be a great ride (65m will be a doddle!) - Back to the Ceilidh Place for lunch and a pint.

I did a ride from Durness to Ullapool earlier in the year which would have included the Laxford Bridge to Ullapool section. It's a stunning ride, bit hilly though and if the wind is against you it'll be tough.

You'll definately enjoy it though, it really is stunning up there.

Highlights are the section past the caves before Inchnadamph, the climb up past Quinaig and the road down Loch Shin to Lairg on the big route. On the wee route the road past Stac Pollaidh up to Lochinver is a cracker (very up and down and twisty with lots of passing places).

Both routes are absolute belters. I've ridden all of it at various points in the last couple of years. I can't make it to this event. The road to lairg in particular is beautiful and it does at least miss out the lochinver coast road, which is a blessing!
