So, I was reading UKIP's Welsh Assembly Manifesto -I like the strange duality of reading to make oneself dumber. Here, below, for your consumption is UKIP's policy for cycling:

*Take a zero tolerance attitude to dangerous cycling, e.g.
jumping red lights and adults using pavements, and
mandate use of cycle paths when available.

Mandated use of cycle paths for whom? I'm sure you will all agree that nothing could possibly go wrong with Club Cyclists sharing dual use paths with Grannies with dogs. You might laugh but despite the fact that they'll win no constituencies these idiots are going to get eight seats in the Senedd, which is only two less than the Tories.

All the cycle paths I have seen or ridden on in North Wales are shared paths. With a lot of the main N5 route the council simply painted a white line down the centre of the pavement where you can happily cycle for up to 50 metres before having to slow/stop to navigate across a side road. It is next to useless for anyone wishing to commute to or from work.

I note also the reference to red light jumping and pavement riding, because there is no problem with cars jumping lights; and I'm sure we're all aware of numbers of pedestrian killed by cars on pavements.

Their other environmental policies were much worse, however.

Nope - he originally claimed that you cycle paths were mandatory. I referred to cycle lanes when I should have said cycle paths/facilities.

First use of the word mandatory was by you.

Except what is often quoted about the Netherlands is only part of the story.

Only certain urban cycle lanes are mandatory - most cycle lanes aren't. And most of the roads don't have cycle lanes anyway.

All their losers have been packed off to Wales were they are going to get in to the Senedd through the, Regional List, back door. Mark Reckless and Neil Hamilton are as good as elected already, our Proportional Representation list has been hijacked, ironically, by UKIP immigration. Sadly there are more gullible fools in Wales than Scotland so they've all come here.
