OK then. Anyway Jim77 have you sorted out whether or not the tyre(s) were on the wrong way? I'm sure that was the original topic and not Aquaplaning.

The tyre's label should always be on the off-side or drive side and aligned with the valve stem.

Bicycles cannot aquaplane.

The label should be OPPOSITE the valve stem to give a sense of aesthetic balance to the wheel.

What did happen then? Why did my front wheel feel light when I rode through this massive puddle doing 30?

The reduction in road grip caused by the lubricating qualities of water may have caused some tyre slippage but it sure as hell didn't aquaplane because that would be impossible. Unless you're bike has big fat low pressure square section tyres. Which I doubt.
