Trick as always us to work the bead into the rim well as you put the tyre on. No tyre levers required with thus technique

Would that make a difference?

Sometimes. Vittorias for instance seem to downspec the wired version, eg the Voyager Hyper is 120tpi in folding, 60tpi in wired, same with Randonneurs, and that does make a difference.

That said, those contis looked silly value.
