I have been looking at tyres for my hybrid. 700x28c. I have seen 700x28, 700c x 28 and 700 x 28c. Are they all the same or is it just variations on a theme?
There used to be 700a, 700b, and 700c
700 A642 mmObsolete
700 B635 mmRod-brake roadsters.
700 C622 mmRoad bikes, hybrids, "29 inch" MTBs.
(28 x 1 1/2 F.13 Canada)
700 D587 mmOddball size formerly used on some GT models.
According Sheldon Brown
Always best to use the ISO sizing: 700C is given as 622x width, ie 622-25. The 622 is the rim diameter for the bead of the tyre. Most cycles will be 622mm or for ATB, 559mm.
