whilst cleaning my bike recently I noticed some fairly deep scratches on my carbon forks.

they are under the fork crown and align with the tyre - I can only guess that due to my enormous power (and weight) the wheel has been flexing and on occasion, rubbing - the wheel is central though but it is pretty close clearance.

should this damage worry me? it's a fairly new bike so I don't want to be buying new forks!

Have that on my Roubaix. Though wouldn't say deep. Just looks like lacquer scratch. I think it's all the raod crap that is continually thrown up and out from the tyre rather then any sort of tyre rub.

the strange thing with mine is that the lacquer looks to be fine - almost as if the scratches were already there and painted over!?!

It definitely lines up to where the tyre 'would' make contact.

I would actually like some new carbon forks as my steerer tube is quite short (cut at the factory) - I'd really like an extra 15mm. So although I'm not going to rush out and buy some now, perhaps something to think about over the winter ready for next summer

I had these on my Allez and they seemed to be aligned with the little sticky-out bits from the tyre moulding making contact with fork. I wouldn't have thought there would be enough friction to mark the fork but I trimmed them off the tyre anyway and that was that.
