A quick run-down of events:
- done 1500 miles in 6 months
- using the same Kenda tyres I bought the Dawes with
- been getting quite a few punctures in the rear (giggedy), so have been looking at buying new tyres
- stuck a new inner (Specialized) in there last week
- went for a 25miler on Sunday, got a puncture :-/
- fixed Sunday night - inside of tyre checked, glass removed
- commuted to work fine (only 2 miles) in the morning
- started on the way home afterwards and could feel a 'whump, whump, whump' through the seat
- got off, couldn't see much in the dark and so left it for further examination when I got home
- got home, saw this...

...hmmm.
- twisted inner? Deflated, took off tyre/inner and redid.
- pumped up tyre, same thing happened. Grrrrr.
- deflated, took off tyre/inner and checked inside tyre and saw this...

- not just one, but two (if one were at 12oclock, the other would be at 7)
- they were not there when I fixed the puncture on Sunday.
- ideas?
- ordering new tyres!

if you're using kenda tyres for 1500km i'm not surprised they need replacing.

i'd recommend geex streetrunner slicks if you're not using the bike off road much.

Ai, the frequency of punctures recently has had me researching new tyres over the last week. It's just this sudden appearance of damage to the inside of the tyre which caused me to go WTF?

I've been looking at Schwalbe Marathon's as replacements.

Not seen that sort of thing either, mainly due to not doing that sort of mileage!

It'll make a good belt now!

Actually, if you don't want to make a belt, and will be chucking thew anyway, then can I have them to make belts please?
Thank you.

OE ('original equipment') tyres are never as good as aftermarket tyres, even when they are labelled as being the same make and model.

I've actually been surprised with the bikes I've bought, all but one came with fairly decent conti tyres. I just replaced the front tyre on the ridgeback (the old front became the rear) after 8,439 miles (a conti contact) and I put the 2550 mile old front of my Bianchi on the Kinesis and it has now done 10,330 (4886 front/ 2894 rear) and had 1 p'ture. In general however you are spot on
