Food for thought here...

A mate has been experimenting with tyres and pressures for a while. He always wins the club annual freewheel competition, normally on 23's at 140psi. last time he won again and went further than he has ever done before on 40mm tubeless rubber at 40psi.

his comment on the linked article:
This is suddenly a topic of interest to a lot of people, all over the world, even though Frank Berto's original analysis was done years ago, and has been championed by Jan Heine for five or six years. But there is a growing realisation that, outside a very smooth velodrome, a lower tyre pressure works better, and is more comfortable, too.

What does the panel think?

Loch side.

But there is a growing realisation that, outside a very smooth velodrome, a lower tyre pressure works better, and is more comfortable, too.

Do we need a panel to debate that question? Or, is the devil in the semantics of "works better"?

What weight is your mate?
Just asking as I win most freewheel battles but only because I weighed 3-5 stone more than the other riders.
