I have experienced how difficult it is to ride with low tyre pressures. When i tried to inflate them to 80-110 psi, I could only get them to go to 60psi with a car compressor unit. Can valves restrict pressure.? Or should I gat a proper pump?

Car tyres run on much lower pressures then bike tyres.
The compressor is simply not up to the job.
Get a track pump and it will get you up to 100psi no bother.

Check the max pressure that you car compressor can deliver - car tyres rarely need more than 40 PSI, so I assume it's designed with that in mind.

Or just invest in a decent track pump

My track pump is the one bike accessory I would not be without.
Sorry if anyone has already recommended a TRACK PUMP.

I use one of these.

It easily inflates to tyres to 150 psi.

(It did when I ran it and didn't watch the gauge. Checked with a better gauge and it had actually got to 160 psi so I let the tyre back down to 100)

I have a track pump but haven't used it for years, this unit does all the work at home.

If you get one take note of the 10 minute operating time and follow it. The plastic connections melt if you don't. You need a Presta valve adaptor to go with it.

I arrived at my parents with a puncture once, my dad's compressor only got my tyres up to about 40 so that's deffo the problem! My track pump (surprised no one else has mentioned it) was 18 quid and it has worked like a dream both on my push bike and motorbike, and son's football.
