tyre pressure HELP!

hi guys bought some continental gatorskins for my bike and it says to pump them up to 110psi i have pumped them up to 60 and they seem rock hard should i keep going ??

110 is the max rating for the tyre, most people will run at 90-120 depending on the tyre and their weight. 60 is very low for road use, and makes you vulnerable to pinch flats.

Do you have a track pump? Makes it so much easier.

thanks im 15 and a half stone at the moment 6 foot 2 inches. should i pump to 90psi?

The tyre side wall will have a minimum and maximum PSI.
Pump up to somewhere in-between to your comfort level.

60psi is actually pretty soft, but it is about the max you can manage with a hand pump. You need a track pump to get them up to a decent pressure - especially as you are not of polka dot jersey build. :rolleyes:

got them up to 90psi with hand pump its rated to 120 psi but im not a terminator lol!

next job: buy a track pump £15 if that then sorted

did have with the other gatorskins I had, (23's fitted) and had a large chunk of metal go through the sidewall, I doubt any tyre would have survived that, but with the same tyres (25's now) no problems at all.
