Im a fat git, trying to loose weight and reduce the cost of my commute...

I have a Marin Muirwoods 29er. The tyres on it (unknown midel continentals) have a max inflation pressure of about 40 psi..being a fat git (lets just say the bike constantly thinks I have a passenger!)the tyres really need more pressure in order not to run flat! But if I pump them up too high, they just pop off the rims.

So, local shop sold me some Schwalb 700 35c tyres, and theyre loads better, but a bit knobly.

Now, I would like to use a Continental Gatorskin ..but they only come in 700 32.... would they fit ok on the rims?... Any advice greatly appreciated!

Should be fine, I'm not overly familiar with the bike, but on my hybrid I've had 700C 32 and 35 tyres no problem - I assume the situation will be similar for you.

According to the spec, they have 20mm wide rims.
32 mm tyres should be fine, but I wouldn't want to go narrower than that. Probably good for 90 - 100 psi, but that'll be printed on them.
Gatorskins roll well, and are pretty tough, but aren't the grippiest of tyres in the wet.
Can't have everything...

I've heard that but I borrowed a front wheel of a mate with a gator and touchwood have been pleasantly surprised. I could be wrong but I guess that those who say that are say they are skittish are running them at too high a pressure and or lean too much when they corner. I've only cycled 500 miles on it though
