Hi
I was hoping someone could tell me what has caused the damage to my tyres. They were ok til I took my bike to the bike shop this week to have the chain and sprocket replaced and now they appear damaged and bulging and I'm wondering if the shop overinflated them but would like your feedback before I complain! Here's a picture of the back tyre

Thanks for your help!

Brake blocks out of alignment and rubbing tyre?

Whatever caused it I certainly wouldn't ride on them anymore!

Hi,
thanks for the suggestion- the brake blocks are aligned ok and the tyres were ok before it went to the shop earlier this week and I haven't ridden since- if its not overinflation could they have been damaged by some sort of equipment used in the shop? I want to go back to the shop and talk to them about it but would like to have some idea of what might have caused the problem. I wish I'd taken a photo before I took it to the shop so I could prove they weren't like that but I never thought of it.

Sorry, I've no idea in that case. I wouldn't have though overinflation would be the cause, it looks like something has been rubbing on it at speed, hence my brake block thought.

Out of interest is it like that all the way around the wheel or just the area shown in the photo?

IMO, the damage has been caused by riding on a flat tyre and then inflated to a decent pressure. The pressure did not 'cause' the damage only exposed it.

Hi Gavin
I think you are kind of right- in that I was thinking about how long it was since I bought new tyres and I think that the fact that the shop have inflated it to a greater degree than usual has probably exposed the weaknesses in the tyres so I bought some new ones- problem solved!
