I have a 2019 carbon synapse and have been looking into mudguards for them in the past, but I've still not decided whether I'm going to get any yet. However I did find a couple of things at the time that might be of interest to you as well.

Synapse with SKS longboard 35mm guards

If you want to spend a bit more then these look promising although in the review he doesn't mention what tyre size his Synapse is fitted with

Synapse with PDW mudguards

there are various versions, the 37mm road plus are for up to 30mm tyres so probably your best option, the 45mm city version fit up to 35mm tyres but may be too wide for the Synapse?

I have the same bike as you.
I struggled to find any definitive answers with regards to mudguards that fit.
So this weekend I tried the SKS longboards 35. I run the standard Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 700 x 30c tyres that came with the bike (although they actually measure 32mm). You will also need to purchase the cannondale bridge for the rear (approx £10) and some extra 4mm stainless button head allen bolts, cannondale sell 4 of these bolts for £15, however local hardware shops sell them for pennies.
In reflection the mudguards are snug but do reduce the road spray, although they would probably be more effective with a 28mm tyre.
Ill take some photos tomorrow 👍🏻

I have SKS Full Length Chromoplastic fitted to my Giant Roam 0 hybrid:

I also have a Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2018 but I have resisted fitting mudguards because I think they make bikes look like commuter bikes. To me they look so wrong on a road bike. I only ride it in the summer in dry weather when the roads are completely dry. If you aren't so vain like me, I can highly recommend SKS mudguards as they work great.

The rear bridge was included with my Synapse.

That's an impressive amount of coverage of the front wheel and they look good on your bike.

I can see a gap between the edge of the guards and forks and also the seat stays. I can't quite see from the photos down in the chain stay area, is there clearance to the mudguard edges there as well?

Any fettling required other than cutting the mudguard stays?

Other than cutting the metal stays to length, purchasing extra bolts and nylon washers, thats all the fettling that was needed.

The lower part of the front mudguard stays only just reach by a few millimetres, I think SKS make extended length ones though if required.

Can I check what tyres and guards you have fitted please

Assuming you've got dropout fittings, I'd use standard full length mudguards (SKS/Bluemels or whatever), and fit them using zip ties rather than the official fork crown and stay bridge fittings.

Poke pairs of holes in the mudguard on each side, fore and aft and put a zip tie through the holes and round the seatstay or fork blade.
A hot spoke is good for melting the holes, be generous with the clearance at the staystays, and if possible, take the rear mudguard down to chainstay level. If you've a hot air gun, you can soften the mudguard to allow some reshaping.

Hi I have just brought the same bike. Can you confirm whether the bolt hole on the rear of the crown came threaded on you bike as mine has no thread ! What size bolt did you use ? Thanks
