Why does no one use those old fashioned tyre saver gadjets that were so effective in clearing small flints, nails, bits of glass etc?

On most new bikes there are 2 things I almost always find 2nd rate. The seat, but I can understand that as we are all very different when it comes to seats and a lot of us change the seat.

Secondly, the tyres. They are often cheap and nasty.

But I have noticed recently, a lot of new bikes are being released with Schwalbe tyres. That is what I use on all my bikes except my road bike which has Continental 4 season tyres on it.

I currently have Schwalbe Lugano's fitted and I really like them they roll well and seem to have a decent puncture protection on the inside. Most of the guys I ride with have them and seem to have no issue with them.
