Was it not a twitterer who's picture of the crashed plane in the Hudson made it on to all the news screens first. While everyone was looking for were it had happened, he'd taken a picture and uploaded it, where it was promptly jumped on and e-mailed around the world within minutes of the crash.

twitter.. I DO get it.. I might be an idiot.. but I see it as an aid to any forthcoming / impending mental dysfunctionality.. my concentration span is just about 140 chars....

Depends how people use it. Some do post endless "I'm going to the shops/have just eaten" type messages. Other folk post interesting links they've happened upon, ask for help tracking down useful info, muse on topics of the day, etc etc. Charlie Brooker's laments regarding his cold had me guffawing twice yesterday, f'rexample. Carlton Reid posts much good bike related things too.
