The point of it for me is sharing stuff like links &c that don't really merit a full blog post, and seeing stuff from others along similar lines. I try not to use it for facebook style status updates, but I am only human...

I haven't found the need for Facebook. If people are interested enough in me as a friend to want to know my 'status' (I'm sure I used to call it knowing how I am), they can talk to me or get in touch. Otherwise it seems a way of spending my time updating people who don't want to invest time in getting to know me properly. That kind of person is an acquaintance not a friend to me.
