i've got qi recording (it's on series record). if that stupid yellow bear is on it, i'm deleting it. am i alone in finding a load of (paid) celebrities cheerfully telling us to "dig deep" when many people are struggling to pay their bills and at risk of unemployment just a tad gauche?

No, alec you are not alone. I've also noticed all this week that Wogan's "Things Money Can't Buy" is in fact the opposite! :?:

Don't get me started on Children in Need. Radio 2 was crap all day and mrs SJ had the shite on TV all evening.

I've sat upstairs listening to Gary Glitter albums.

I doubt that the children and their families who benefit from the money raised worry too much about whether any celebrities are paid for appearing. Children in Need is a force for good. People don't have to watch - there are plenty of other channels. They don't have to give either, but many do because they want to feel they are helping. Their appeals say to give what you can afford. If people can't afford, they don't give. If they can and they want to, they do. I can't see anything wrong with that.

Having said that, I went for a curry with a couple of friends, over-indulged in the Cobra, watched the Freeview 10 minutes of adult TV and now have a large scotch to lubricate the keyboard fingers on here.

Switch it off, put on a cd, open a bottle of French red and read a book?
Ha! I bought and read my first novel in 10 years, last week.
I had forgotten what a good stress buster reading fiction is.
(I read non fiction continuously 24/7 )
Might get my music collection out again and reaquaint myself with Van the Man, JL Hooker and Mahler etc .
