Play a dvd back into the TV HdMI input. If it's fine then it's a front end WiFi or data processing of the audio

At £ 400 it's not worth repairing or if you're lucky to still have a repair shop in the local area

They've already booked the return on Friday and will refund. Still under guarantee. They did replace the speakers but have seemingly given up

Is there a digital connection you can make between your TV and AV receiver? Then your AV receiver can do all the translation from digital to analog to feed its own speakers. Unlikely to be streaming bandwidth if the picture is fine.

I don't use the AV receiver anymore but if we get the same issue with the new telly I'll connect a DVD player and see. But hopefully it was the telly at fault

We recently upgraded our TV. The old one had a wifi issue, so we ran it on hardwired LAN. The issue was we couldnt use certain apps being older.

The new TV is is excellent higher resolution 4k 100hz not 1080p. The sound though is a bit weak in punch. I dug our old soundbar and remote sub woofer, hardwired the HDMI cables.

Now we have deep full range booming volume cinema sound. Nice

4k screen, hooked up to a decent AVR + floor standing speakers. Probably as close to getting out on the roads without a wheelstand setup or wearing a VR headset ^_^

It's also worth noting that a lot of television built in Streaming services don't have a lot of memory to play with, which also means they don't have large buffers to enable them to smooth out the video stream before the tv gets to play it out, even if the tv does offer ultra high definition. Also, check that you haven't enabled a specific type of audio processing, some tv's have numerous options and will try to process accordingly, even if your source material isn't compatible with the chosen processing scheme.

I wouldn't get that past management...

Well management didn't like the look of the old TV in the living room so I ordered a slim fit one, but the sockets were in the way of the install. Electricians have now moved the sockets leaving a hole in the wall which management again is unhappy with.

New TV is getting fitted at the weekend so hopefully will be the end of this saga. Sound is going to be managed by the sound bar, when funds allow will be adding the matching wireless bass unit which comes with a stupid price tag.

Well I can't yet give an update; I went through Amazon to report that (after having new speakers fitted) the sound issue was still there. There was no option to request another repair (as the repair guy told me to do) so they refunded it. We went for a TCL 65" Fire TV as it was on special offer and cost less than the one we have just returned but had better reviews and was a 2024 model. It was on Prime delivery "expected by Tues 3rd". I got a message the other day to say sorry, if it hasn't arrived by the 10th (today) then I can get a refund. I don't want a refund! I want my Telly! I tracked it through Arrow XL website and it just says it left Bedfordshire on the 3rd. I then started a chat to try and track down where the telly actually was, but after waiting 15 minutes no-one came onto the chat.

So now I have to chase Amazon because we have not yet received the refund for the faulty TV, even though they collected it on Friday. And wait until the end of today to see if our new TV arrives, and of not then get a refund, and then we'll have to go to an actual shop to pick one up as I'm tired of relying on couriers!

The saga continues. Amazon sent a courier to pick up the old TV. Our new TV still hasn't arrived and neither Amazon nor the courier can tell us where it is or when it will arrive. This Morning I had a message to say Amazon has refunded us for the old TV, and the new one that hasn't arrived. So now I'm going to Richer Sounds so I can actually walk out with a telly in my hands! They have recommended a 2023 Philips model, which is all they had in the store in our price range, but when new it was £899. They've let us have it for £499. Hopefully this one will be fine

Richer Sounds have been alright for all TVs and kit I've bought from them, I probably wouldn't buy one elsewhere now.

Yes I regard them highly, just sometimes it's cheaper to get online as they don't stock loads of budget models. But what they do stock is always well-chosen and they give good advice without trying to over-sell.
