Strava has started spamming me with ultra annoying vacuous bollocks titled "Active Intelligence" as commentary on every ride. Following is my farking commute for farks sake.

Can I turn it off?

Hey there! I totally get how the flood of "Active Intelligence" updates can seem like overkill, especially for a daily commute. But before you dismiss it entirely, consider this: Strava's Active Intelligence is like having a personal coach in your pocket, constantly analyzing your ride data to provide insights you might not notice yourself.

Think of it as a way to make even your commutes more efficient and perhaps even more enjoyable. The AI can highlight patterns in your rides, suggest optimal routes, and track your progress over time. Plus, who knows? Maybe those little nuggets of feedback will help you discover ways to improve your cycling technique or spot trends in your fitness levels you hadn't noticed before.

Not AI generated at all. Honest.

Google tells me that you need to press a "Leave the beta" button in the "Feedback module".

It will probably reply "I'm afraid I can't do that"

Very good!

And yes, "leave the Beta" works.

One in the eye for our AI overlords

I don’t see it on the Strava feed on my PC but it’s on my phone. I like it……it makes me feel good when it says I’ve done well.
Trouble is, almost all of us get older and slower, so it will either tell you that less and less often and the reverse more often, or it's lying. I really don't think they've thought this "feature" through properly. Are they going to drive away their longest-term users, or highlight themselves as inaccurate, shallow flatterers?

Does seem like total bollocks; I've noticed similar pointless commentary on my rides, plus email spam with content of little consequence.

Turned off the latter from the settings menu..

This does make me a little sad / guilty as I suspect they're another potential victim of the post-covid cycling wasteland and the end of the latest tech boom. A nice, novel idea that has some value, but is difficult to monetise.

As much as many aspects of Strava irritate me, I guess they've all got to eat and you can't blame the for trying; as long as it doesn't go so far as to make the whole site unuseable.

I turned it off, ridiculous if slightly amusing coaching comments for someone just out enjoying a ride. Might be of interest to more sport oriented riders.
