I'd rather be out on my bike than sitting in my shed listening to music on my mp3 player whilst watching the heartrate monitor and spinning the pedals whilst going nowhere, like a Hamster on a wheel.

I think we all on here would rather be outside. However, I don't really have the confidence or, indeed, the desire to go out cycling in several centimetres of snow or on roads that are covered in ice. In those conditions I'm happy enough to spin the TT for 90 mins or so.

You obviously aren't training hard enough  Try doing 5 hours in a single session with some decent gradients and see what your road tyre looks like!

It'll look fine. Same as if I did a one hour session or a three hour session. Too much pressure or too little on the roller wrecks tyres on a turbo. Set it up right and you can use any tyre.

And no, I don't do 5 hour rides on the turbo. I rarely do 5 hours ride at all at the moment since none of my races last more than 3 hours. It's quite sad when people start willy waving about how many hours they spend on their turbo, especially when the weather in the UK this winter has been so mild that there have been few weekends where you couldn't get out for a long ride.

My cycle is my only means of transport, if I've got to go to work I've got to go to work it doesn't matter if its icy or snowy I have to cycle, obviously with a non essential weekend ride if its too bad I'll bail out and and treat the day as a rest day.
