There is CTT, the Cycle Time Trials organisation. There is RRA, the Roads Records Association. There is BC, British Cycling. When you enter an event presided over by one of these three, you are in a 'race'.
ALL other bicycle rides are 'leisure'.

I haven't been out on my bike for a week,i was getting a bit agitated so i went round to my mum's to do some miles on her exercise bike. I put it at full tension, highered the seat, lowered the handlebars then i was away. I did 15 miles in 45 minutes, which i was pleased with. My legs are slightly aching which doesn't happen after a proper ride, so i suppose it was a decent substitute for a proper ride!

There's a lot of sportives on the BC calendar. I'm pretty sure they're not races.

I think I prefer the turbo, I've got rollers now because of the noise (I'm in a flat) and my preference to use a turbo tyre (extra hassle) but when its set up the ability to randomly flip the resistance makes for a more interesting session IMO you can have that with resistance rollers but you have to pay £; and its easier to change positions. With normal rollers, I have to be more consistent to stop my self falling off and I haven't mastered standing up

ah, a comedian.

I was just following up your joke with one of my own.. ;)
