You going for 2 months . 2 pairs of shorts and tops 2 pairs of socks. wash every night wear second set

5 days, possible 2 rides a day. Different types of top for difffernt weather. I’ll wash my kit when I get home. The decision made a lot easier by the fact I’ll never actually have to carry the bag myself!

You wanted to hear about a bit of suffering @TurboTommy? Let me tell you about my day....^_^

The first 28 miles to the first food stop was a very enjoyable ride with @Add, @BILL S and @kipster (I did suggest we call it a day there and spend the rest of the day in a sunny beer garden but I think they thought I was joking!). Then we parted ways and I headed off alone to the Devil's Elbow.

That wasn't too bad actually - both because it's the easier of the two and the legs were still quite fresh. Same couldn't be said about the Devils Staircase which was placed 90 miles in - that was a real struggle to stay on the bike and keep moving!

My front shifter stopped working 40 miles in and stuck in the big ring - after a half hour wait for the mechanics at the second food stop, they couldn't fix it but they put it in the small ring for me - it's so hilly I don't think being stuck in the small ring affected me too much really!

Devil's Staircase killed me so the last 40 miles were tough - particularly as I missed the third and last food stop and ran out of water. The last 10 miles were "character building" !

Probably sums it up to say I have big blisters on the soles of both feet!

Big thanks to @Add for staying and waiting for me - thanks again mate was great to see a friendly face :hugs:

Anyway, despite all the suffering it was also beautiful scenery on quiet roads - more sheep than cars - I'll probably remember that part more than the pain in a years time !

I've made a deal with HID. Today, the way to make me faster is to get lighter - a new bike would be nice, but my current physique and fitness will be better for me than a bike (although I clearly need a new back wheel!). The deal with HID though is, if I get to 70 kg (so 15kg weight loss) then I can have a super duper bike in the multiple '000s bracket. I'm happy with that deal as it gives me two incentives to lose weight - get fitter/faster and get the bike ^_^

Let's see how much this fat bloke really wants a new bike
If it's any encouragement to keep working on the weight loss @Whorty I thought you looked noticeably slimmer than when I last saw you at the IOW - keep going, what better encouragement than a new bike?!!

Maybe a lighter fabric for the mk2 version
Yeah, just a better quality material/manufacturer - they were £40 so I guess you get what you pay for! These can do the job for now but at some point I'll be happy to pay a bit more for a better quality product which will last a bit longer too

It is. I filmed the first few minutes out. Came to use it later and battery flat - must be a buggered battery. Not used it much last few years so battery dead
