Anyone else notice how in the Olympic road races the tv picture didn't break up when going through the tunnels on the course?
Fiendishly cunning these Chinese!!!
Does anybody know how they achieved this? As in European races the broadcaster doesn't even try to show coverage in the tunnel.

Either not broadcasting live, or fitting special equipment into the tunnels to relay the signal.

When the motorbikes entered the tunnel they had a plethora of Chinese people (that they'd kicked out of their houses to make way for Olympic venues) quickly connecting cables to the cameras which linked to an external aerial. These people then ran quickly behind the bikes unfurling the cable from a heavy spool. Once at the end of the tunnel the connection was undone and the spool rewound ready for the next lap.

Does this help answer the question?

Can you buy these people cheaply? If so let ASO know immediately!!

I don't think there's a purchase price. If you are a Chinese Gov official, or are equipped with a gun and tell them that you wish to own them, they are duty bound to comply. Something to do with Chinese honour and/or terror.

Seem to work tremendously well over there, I think the're all entering into the spirit of the Olympics.

I wouldn't put that beyond them.
