Hi
the Cycling CluI I did my first TT with asks for £29 yearly membership and £4 for each TT session (cant race without being a member of a Cycling Club.
im only looking forward to do TT with them and was thinking if being a member of the British Triathlon Federation entitles me to do TT's without having to become a Cycling Club member?

Any advice welcome

thanks
M

if the events are club TTs (as opposed to open TTs) then you probably will not be able to ride them without being a member of the organising club. Becoming a member of the BTF will not change that.

Having said that, £29 sounds like a lot for club membership - but still a good investment if you want to ride their series.

thanks Black&Yellow, I believe is an open TT as anyone from any club can take part as long as they belong to a Cycling Club and pay £4. Someone told me that if you were a BTF member that counted as a Club  am also a member of the British Athletics through my running club but I guess that doesnt count either. Just wanted to save money other than belonging yet to another club lol

If it's tris that you are into, then I would join your nearest tri club - most of them are affiliated to CTT anyway, which should make it a bit easier to enter open events..

Just make sure they are CTT affiliated. While you are at it, check your insurance (3rd party) as well. £29 club membership is a bit upscale, but not unusual. When you consider what people pay to compete in a tri, or for a bike, it's peanuts in comparison!

Excellent that's the answer I was lookin for. I do belong to a Tri Club but they dont belong to the CTT. However I just called the CTT and affiliation is only £30 so I asked the commettee if we can register with the CTT
