In 1982 Chris Rea started learning to fly as he was given the lead roll in a proposed film Top Gun, he went on to become proficient in fast fighter jets, training with the RAF, he was deemed skilled enough to fly solo and was ready to actually fly the Aircraft in the film himself, having been made an honorary Squadron Leader, however his part of Pete "Smoggy" Smith in the film about life as a front line RAF fighter pilot, was cruelly taken away and given to Tom Cruise when the script was Americanised

Chris Rea started the fast food outlet “Parmo’s For All” selling the famed Teesside snack, the first outlet opened in 1979 in Redcar, and are now open across the UK so that everyone in Britain can get rid of the munchies on the way home from a night out.

That's not too far from the truth, his family ran a chain of cafes.
