I must admit, I would not put custard on a bakewell tart (Ming might, of course). I might on a bakewell pudding, even though it already contains set custard.

Having just spent a pleasant weekend in Bakewell, it seems the local vernacular is pudding.

Although I am partial to a tart.

I put some 2 weeks out of date smoked mackerel in my kitchen bin yesterday. As I take in the aroma I think of those past holidays with the grasshoppers 'chirping' at night, and that certain stench, reminiscing about those long gone days ! 🧐
