I'm a kid of the 70s and survived the mucky fields we used to play in, mud fights, eating sandwitches from unwashed hands, swigging pop from a bottle my friends had drank from with no more than a cursory wipe etc etc.
You shouldn't (imo) try to avoid everything, you need to expose yourself to some stuff to maintain a good immune system.
Classic thing was working in Egypt, I got possible the worst case of diahorrea ever..,,it was the food. When talking to the guy who looked after my accommodation and food, he explained, it's the same food we eat (and It was ) but you're ( my) stomach just wasn't used to the natural bacteria out there, which to me, makes sense.

My thing that does make me go ughhh, mixed up food on the plate. Mixed up as it all stirred up. Yuk, visually horrible

Coming onto the cyclepath at 7.30 this morning....greeted by a large dog 'laying an egg' whilst the owner got the old plaggy bag ready . Great start to the day!.

Out walking once I came across another walker with a placcy bag which he twirled rapidly round like a slingshot to twist the end then shoved it into his rucksack.

I really hoped the bag had his sandwiches in, or maybe he'd been picking blackberries. But that wasn't how my brain initially interpreted it. He didn't have a dog with him.

I sometimes see the 'poo tree' where lazy people can't be bothered to walk 100 yards up the path and put them in the doggy poop bin the Council lovingly supplied so they attach freezer bags to the branches.

During the horsemeat scandal
You could buy horse meat in grocery stores in 1960s California where I grew up. The Feral government put a stop to that.

I *liked* horse meat. It's generally very lean, and otherwise almost indistinguishable from cow meat. Since I dislike the fat and cut it off, and don't care for "marbling", I think horse meat is a superior product.

Instead, the Fed is pushing "insect protein." Uh, no.

I remember it because in those days in Chinese restaurants in the UK, you had to ask if you wanted chopsticks to eat with, and we had got used to that while in Singapore.

It's that way in America, at least where I live. 20 years ago they brought napkins, straws, and chopsticks to the table. Now you have to ask for them, and then they have to go in back and search for some.

Yes, a fork and spoon are faster and more efficient, but if it's Chinese food, you should use the sticks. Just like if you eat tacos, apples, or nachos, you use your hands.

Of course, I've seen people use a knife and fork to eat pizza or chicken, which I think is borderline ridiculous. If I say anything they'll usually mumble something about hygeine, but I know *exactly* where my hands have been since I last washed them. The cutlery on the table, not so much.

Those horrible processed meat things they slice 'meat' off, to stick in equally horrible kebab thingies are yuk!🧐 You're not telling me they quickly sell all the stuff, so they use a new one every day! They could be warmed up, then left to go cold for days on end!xx( Think of all the bacteria build up in the horrible things, during that time!

Rancid. Wouldnt even use it as wallpaper paste. I'm gagging as i type; and the thought is bringing a lump to my throat. Not in a sentimental way either. Did i mention i hated this stuff ?

Don't forget those cute individual bottles of rancid milk they wheeled out every morning.
