Triple Front Derailleur.

Hi all
I'm after some advice/ answers please.! About 6 months ago I bought my first road bike in many years an Orbea Aqua TSR. I love the bike but I've only been out on it a couple of times in fact the bike has only covered 22 miles. But it's been back to the shop twice. The first time for front derailluer adjustment after about 6 miles and for the second time a front derailluer shifter/lever problem. The bike started its life as a flat bar road bike. Basically the shop had 2 and they weren't selling so the shop converted 1(my 1) to a drop bar road bike and left the triple 50x39x30 crank on(which is what I wanted). Now the trouble is front shifting I say trouble but it does seem to work quite well except I seem to have to double shift (1 push of the brake lever nothing and push again to get the chain to ride on to the large sprocket ). Getting from Inner (small sprocket) to middle sprocket seems fine just 1 push of the brake lever. Is this normal for a triple? The front derailluer is Shimano FDR-453 and the shifters/levers Shimano sora 3400 9 speed. After doing some research on the net I see that the FDR-453 is for a flat bar road bike and may not be compatable with STI Shifters. Does any one know if this is correct? And that is why I have to double shift to get fron middle sprocket to large sprocket it just seems a bit weird to me I'm used to MTB gears 1click =1gear I just assumed it would be the same on a road bike. Any input regarding this would be really appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Correct. Shimano flat bar front shifters pull quite a bit more cable per shift than their drop bar shifters.

Depending on the chainset the solution can get complicated. If I were you I would make them sort it out as part of the warranty.

Seems a bit harsh to get charged by the shop that built the bike with incompatible parts in the first place. But still, if you're happy, good look and enjoy your ride.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I should say I never bought the bike from my LBS the shop is quite some distance from my house. So when you factor the cost of the fuel to take the bike back I've probably just about broke even. But I agree they should of done it right in the first place. Done 80 miles this week and its running lovely!! Thanks.
